Two questions came up for me recently with regard to dealing with loss and I want to share them here as they brought up a lot of ideas.
Firstly, what are the resources I have found in dealing with loss?
I put:
Support and community
Being in nature
Creativity
Mindfulness
Meditation
Workshops on loss
Reading
My pets
A memory tree for my mum so I have a place to visit and remember her
I have kept mum’s ashes
Research
Having a funeral to say goodbye
Secondly, what have I had to develop within myself to manage that loss?
Creativity - writing and poetry and art
Ability to ask for support
Resilience and strength
Acceptance of mum’s death
Sharing with others in community
How to be a fighter
Assertiveness
Mindfulness
Being able to do the things I would do with mum on my own or with another and enjoy them
Ability to reminisce
Research
A new routine
